The first single from five-piece rock band Volka, is ‘Wounds’ and the track contains all the fundamental components required in a successful rock track.
Present are repetitive guitar riffs, which remain intense and forceful throughout it’s entirety, alongside aggressive vocals from lead singer Thomas Fraser and a break with only soft guitar mid-way through to build up to a dramatic conclusion.
Although it seems, on the surface to be a heavy rock track, the lyrics convey a different side as they are slightly sensitive and personal – a noticeable contrast between the lyrics and musical style, which is present particularly throughout the beginning of the track.
Here Volka prove they have the ability to follow a heavy rock style, however where the track does lack in individuality, it makes up for with strong instrumental and structure.
