Those who know me will know that I only really listen to two types of music, punky pop girl bands and bands who sound like Modern Baseball.
Therefore to come across a track by a band that is completely different to my normal taste but still keep my feet tapping is a pretty amazing feat.
brownbear manage to grip my attention in new single ‘Stop The World’ as a soothingly warm guitar introduces frontman Matt Hickman’s sublime vocals.
This soothing softness doesn’t last long as Hickman’s voice is met with crashing drums and a heavy bass guitar creating a captivity melody, which is bound to sound incredible live.
‘Stop The World’ shares many similarities to brownbear’s other tracks, but seems to also posses this newfound gutsiness, which gives it a slightly more raw charm.
This raw energy continues to build throughout each chorus as Hickman’s message comes through stronger every time until you feel like chanting “stop the world/I want off” at the top of your voice.
The single, which will be launched at Stereo over the weekend, will be Hickman’s first live show since his sold out solo performance at The Hug and Pint, this time accompanied by the full band there will surely been plenty of opportunities to have a little dance.
