Armstrong – Armstrong

Armstrong is a five-piece alternative rock band hailing from Glasgow who is already smashing into the music industry with their new self-titled EP.

The debut offering from the indie rockers is a reminiscent experience of all that was good in the emo days, with catchy choruses and gentle guitar and drum melodies to swing your side fringe to.

The four track EP starts of with their latest single, ‘Thursday Night Club’, which is the definition of alternative rock with a melody and chorus so captivating it only takes one listen until you’re humming along; that and very intelligent writing, with the lyrics “there is a future and a past in everything”, makes the song slightly thought provoking, mirroring early Paramore with a more modern edge.

‘Just Cause’ dives straight in with a killer guitar riff and the gentle voice of singer Nicole Mason continuing the theme of a decent, polished rock song.

‘Bend. Buckle. Break’ and ‘You’re Not Alone’ are the slower offerings, highlighting the beautifully haunting voice Mason has to offer and painting the picture of a sea of lighters swaying along; the songs showcase the good production with layering and a gentle build up to the powerful choruses Armstrong has already perfected.

Armstrong is a band with a refreshing gift of genuine talent and the potential to bring their take on alternative rock anthems to a wider audience, especially thanks to their well-packaged fun and infectiously catchy songs.

If you have been longing about reliving the good old emo days with an energetic modern twist then Armstrong is the band you have been dreaming about.
