Well known for his ‘cut-up’ mixing style DJ Yoda has taken his music in a new direction, looking to bring the best of UK hip-hop to the scratch scene.
In his latest ‘Breakfast of Champions’ tour Yoda throws a little bit of everything into the mix and true to style, there’s funk, house and even a little slice of 8-bit; the live show also provides alluring visuals, which are also self-produced.
Each film incorporates the latest technology, and Yoda has been instrumental in creating this new platform; the multi-skilled professional has worked with top musicians from Boy George, Nice & Smooth’s Greg Nice, post-grime and ska band, Man Like Me, renowned spitters Action Bronson, Virus Syndicate, Alice Russell and M.O.P.
Going from strength to strength each track on the latest release demonstrates impeccable timing and the skillful art of scratching; each song is like a lyrical philosophy.
In true Breakfast of Champions style, the music is bold, capturing and rhythmically entrancing; the guest vocals are well versed in beat box tactics, fitting neatly in line with Yoda’s clean, cross fading.
On stage the guys exude a passion for musical collaboration, a shared admiration of the potential for music to shift and evolve.
With DJ Yoda you get nothing less than an eclectic repertoire, including parody, emotion and deep, meaningful music.
Having won a number of awards since his first live spot at Mojo, Breakfast of Champions does not disappoint.
