Glasgow based folk singer songwriter Aaron Fyfe’s new EP starts with title track ‘Closer to You’ and straight away you notice the fantastic production.
‘Closer To You’ features a lazy rhythm that is complimented by violin and drums and the driving force of the fantastic vocal talent of Fyfe and is a beautiful companion in these recent summer days.
The song often changes direction keeping the same lazy rhythm that keeps the record a very interesting listen.
‘Life Less Wonderful’ is another slow paced track that tugs a little harder at the heartstrings, featuring a beautiful chorus that is a highlight of the EP.
We see the violin feature again in this track adding further depth to already powerful record.
‘Bluebirds’ is the best track on the EP, each section distinct and powerful enough in there own right but together they build up to a finale that is the highlight of this EP, while lyrically we see the fantastic strength in the songwriting capabilities of Fyfe.
The upbeat driving force of ‘Roses’ is the perfect ending with enough hooks and nuances leading into the beautiful sections that really keep things fresh and exciting and again we see beautiful lyrics feature.
The track ends on a great note, a driving instrumental section that has a terrific hook on the guitar.
Overall, this is one of the finest things we’ve heard all year, with each track feeling like a single on their own right.
