Record review: Adam Stearns And The Glass Animals – ‘Benjamin Bluehands/Tender Roots’

‘Benjamin Bluehands’ is a stylish, moody blues number featuring piano, guitar, bass, drums and vocals – the standard setup really.

There are sprinkles of finger-snaps, violin, Latin percussion and female backing vocals that do add a little something – the result is a unorthodox, modern blues track.

‘Tender Roots’ on the other hand, provides a boring, bleak B-Side to the energetic A-side.

Only joking, but compared to the cacophony of sounds that are present on ‘Benjamin Bluehands’ it was going to have some work to do to beat it, which explains the simpler, sombre approach taken in recording it.

It’s a pleasant track where the emptiness is part of the composition.
