From the man responsible for many of Belle & Sebastian’s hits, comes a collection of pleasing songs that range from sunny to sombre.
It’s not the happy-go-lucky light pop that Moller is known for – there’s a great range of songs here that take what he learned in crafting well-orchestrated numbers, and injects more of himself into it.
It’s not silly little love songs, it’s something a lot more personal.
There’s a modesty to the album, perhaps in part due to Moller’s vocals having previously been criticised on his debut release – but where he may not have the chops to show off, he reminds me of Paul McCartney.
The great songs, and smart arrangements, more than make up for what’s lacking technically.
