Opener ‘Roots Below’ starts out as a quaint acoustic number, before string and brass add an extra dimension that elevates the track that little bit higher than you might expect.
‘Eyes Of A Storm’ adds in some Celtic charm by harnessing folk instruments to make the track sound like a pub jam.
‘Shadow From the Sun’ makes a strong impression with its Eastern entrance and proves that there’s more to Matt Norris And The Moon than meets the eye.
Closer ‘The Shallows’ takes this concept, and runs with it.
Tribal chants, snake charmers and gongs are all represented in one form or another, before everything fades down and a modest section (almost a whole new song) brings the EP to a quiet conclusion.
