Eponymous track ‘Tiny Little Sparks’ kicks things off and is mature, assured rock.
It’s by far the catchiest and most mainstream of the tracks here, but it’s not the strongest – that accolade goes to its successor, ‘Young Offender’.
Playful bells and bends show that this ‘young offender’ is less teenage rebel without a cause, and more of a struggle to come to terms with adolescence and adulthood.
‘Fire Went Out’ moves the goalposts once more, with a focus around acoustic guitar and piano as the structural backbone for this track.
A humble, low key setup this time around, a chorus of voices echo a goodbye and goodnight – except, there’s a strong dance mix of ‘Tiny Little Sparks’ included that meets the original toe for toe.
It’s good work from Sonny Marvello, and a taste of a collaboration I’d like to see more of.
