Record review: New Town Triptych – ‘Never Again/Simple’

There’s something delightful about hearing an acoustic record that successfully fills the space in a natural, pleasing way.

All too often, studio trickery can overcomplicate the traditional singer/songwriter dynamic.

Here though, New Town Triptych have kept that simple, wholesome image intact with excellent production.

Opener ‘Never Again’ is the perfect balance of instrumentation, not one note is wasted, and everything has been artfully judged.

Closer ‘Simple’ is timeless, and retains that feeling that it’s somehow connected to you from years ago – like a theme song for a TV show you loved in your salad days, a family drama about learning the value of things.
