Zero.Four is a strong rock release where everything is pleasing and tuneful, clear and distinct and musically hitting the right notes, it’s just that it lacks identity except for a homegrown vocal or two.
It’s all too straight, too middle of the road, where the band do venture out they do so in such a clinical fashion as to reproduce others.
Standout tracks include ‘Matter’, a delicate little number that acts as an interlude, and ‘Y+M’, where they manage to put their love stink all over the place.
Verses flow into choruses and every sound present ought to be there to form the whole, there’s not a single element, word or note that I would change.
Unfortunately the identity crisis continues, every other track comes across like We’re Not Afraid Of The NYC are scared to come out from behind their mask, ‘Y+M’ proving to be that special moment that somehow was captured on camera when their guard had dropped.
