Opener ‘Kids And Flags’ is standard indie fare with bright, chirpy guitars and a chorus to get heads bopping.
It’s not that it’s missing anything but with this track as an introduction you feel like you’ve been transported back ten years when indie was all the rage and stuff like this might’ve made it onto the radio.
‘Waist Down’ plays devil’s advocate with the reverb and the result is something a little different, but it’s overused to the point where it becomes a gimmick, a toy the producer couldn’t put down.
The fantastic bass riff would’ve been enough to carry this song, they don’t need to resort to cheap tricks.
Closer ‘Grow’ features a very neat intro with tremolo, and from there things ‘grow’ exponentially.
It’s the big fanfare finish and it works, sadly it’s the glorious icing on top of a lackluster cake.
