Today’s news featuring Love Letter to Japan, The Captain’s Rest’s birthday and more

So, I’ve failed on all accounts recently, behind on reviews, behind on uni work, behind on life but I figured I should bring you some new so here goes:

 

Duglas T Stewart of BMX Bandits has compiled Love Letter To Japan to raise money for the Japan. The album is exclusively available for one month only. Duglas added “Scottish acts have received a lot of love and support from people in Japan over the years, so it’s about sending some love back.”

The 18-track album features new songs, from composer Craig Armstrong, Stevie Jackson (Belle & Sebastian), BMX Bandits, The Pastels, Bill Wells, The Pearlfishers, Snowgoose, Alasdair Roberts, Paul Quinn, The Starlets, Eugenius. It’s £8 BUY.

The Captain’s Rest are going crazy for their third birthday and throwing a whole weekend of cheap food and entertainment on the 23/24th April. Keeping with the three theme, two days of entertainment for £3 each and £3 for selected meals all weekend.

On Saturday 23rd Vic Galloway presents… Wake the President, Ben Butler and Mousepad, Julia and the Doogans, Happy Vandals, Mondegreen, Louise McVey and the Cracks in the Concrete, How Garbo Died and the bar will be open until 1am..

On Sunday 24th… Kid Canaveral, Mitchell Museum, How to Swim, Heart Beats, theapplesofenergy, Deer Mountaineer.

This gig at the Note looks rather impressive, the line up includes Jackie Treehorn, Vasquez, UG!, The Radiation Line, it’s £4 and on April 26 be there!

In festival news, We Are The Physics are playing The Great Escape in Brighton. Rachel Sermanni has been added to the Homegame line-up that festival is looking better and better each day.
