Luc Grindle’s raw and expressive voice carries Soft Drinks Club’s unfettered and straight to the point lyrics across their diverse and experimental music well.
These two tracks point to the unpredictability of the band, you could be forgiven for thinking that each track comes courtesy of a different outfit.
‘Denial’ is fast, heavy and highly emotional, whilst ‘Sixteen’ boasts much softer edges and makes for an easier going and more light-hearted ride.
Both tracks contain welcome musical surprises and are consistently enjoyable throughout, whetting the appetite well for future releases.
The single is very short indeed, lasting less than five minutes – whether this is indicative of their style is unclear as of yet.
Soft Drinks Club are catchy without being repetitive, consistent without being boring and emotional without being sappy.
With such young artists at the helm of the band, it is not difficult to predict big things for them if they keep going the way they’re going.
