Brothers are an alternative rock band from Ayr who is infamously difficult to locate online due to the vagueness and ubiquity of their simple name – seriously, finding them is a nightmare, they share a Spotify profile with a potentially Spanish house outfit (also worth a listen).
To date the band has two singles, this, their second, is inarguably more representative of the visceral and dynamic energy they bring to their live performances.
Recorded by Lewis Glass, this double A-side is testament to the importance of good recordings for conferring the style of a band, this single is vastly superior in quality to their first.
Their music is in a perpetual state of fluctuation between fast and slow, heavy and light; rather than being distracting or stifling, it is hypnotic; drawing attention to the lyrics and adding power to the music.
The band are very much in tune; there are no sharp edges, but the music is not soft or without punch, there is a lot of meandering and experimentation and there is no apology or haste; truly worth a listen.
