WOMPS – ‘Manners’ [Displaced]

Glaswegian post-punk duo WOMPS dropped their video for their new single ‘Manners’ earlier this month – one of the tracks from their debut LP Our Fertile Forever.

Despite stating the influence the 80s Glasgow scene have on them, growing up in the 90s, along with the help of iconic producer Steve Albini – who produced WOMPS debut LP at his Electric Audio studio in Chicago, has clearly had an effect on this record.

Albini’s unique recording style is clearly reflected in ‘Manners’ through the distorted grittiness throughout the record.

Along with this, WOMPS successfully clash indie pop guitar riffs with the grunge-style angst within Ewan Grant’s vocals and lyrics, reminiscent of classics such as Nirvana’s In Utero – a record Albini also worked on.

WOMPS’ latest offering has all the elements to become a live show anthem for them.
