Holly Drummond, 21-year-old singer-songwriter, recently released her much-awaited fourth EP, Battle Lines, and over five tracks, Drummond tells a heartfelt tale of love, loss and hope.
The EP follows the journey from the initial hurt in ‘Battle Lines’ to the ending reflection in ‘Future’.
Drummond’s soft voice is beautifully smooth, offering a deeper elegance to her wistful lyrics and poignant sound; it has a calming quality and there’s something refreshing in the bareness of her words.
The opening and closing tracks are particularly powerful in pushing forward the change in Drummond’s usual style.
‘Stronger’ and ‘The Edge’ continue this new identity with strong vocals and a more contemporary sound alike artists such as Daughter and Imogen Heap.
‘Not Enough’ is reminiscent of Drummond’s earlier EPs, with the addition of the acoustic guitar and it truly magnifies her talent of producing captivating lyrics.
A truthful sense of strength emerges from Battle Lines, as Drummond maintains her own image while producing an extremely mature and professional sounding record.
Drummond has managed to progressively improve her sound over the years and successfully establish herself as one to watch.
