This new single from Comfort provides a mix between political angst and rants and raves from a background of creative and sporadic dance music.
A-side ‘Wealth’ begins with dark tones over a white-noise effect creating an eerie atmosphere, which jumps into a hard walking beat that is easy to become infected by.
As soon as the vocals are released it is impossible not to be sucked into the political engagement of the rant as it grows more energetic and angry: “and what do we have left of our revolution? A word that doesn’t mean anything anymore because it’s only ever said by people who don’t mean it”.
The entire track focuses on menacing beats and rage about current political circumstances and the correlation between wealth and the working class.
B-side ‘Anti-Capitalists on MTV’ continues in the same musical styling with a harsh melody and powerful, rant lyrics.
The song talks about free-thinkers, wasters and anti-capitalist regimes and how they cause confrontations in mundane situations.
This single is very clever with its lyrics and is clearly protesting political elements, and with its heavy beats it is easy to get caught up in it.
