KLOË at The Garage, 28/2/15

Hailing from Clydebank, Chloe Latimer has been creating quite a stir in the Scottish music scene over the last few months under the moniker, KLOË.

It is no surprise tonight’s gig is sold out, as the 18-year-old has already managed to gather a significant online following with over 60,000 Soundcloud hits on her first single, ‘Grip’, released in December.

Despite tonight being her first show Latimer doesn’t seem to be showing any nerves, breaking straight into an upbeat track in front of the packed room.

Her single ‘Grip’ is the highlight of tonight’s set; the dark number showcases her vocal range and songwriting skills beautifully, however surprisingly the rest of her set is less dark and has a more pop influence.

These catchy pop tracks allow Latimer to move around the stage, entertaining the crowd with both her dance moves and big vocals.

It’s nice to see Latimer and her band are clearly enjoying themselves, encouraging the crowd to do the same.

Latimer states that she is both amazed and thankful for the support she has received in the last few months on the songs she’s written about simply “being 18 and living in Glasgow”’

As her set draws to the end Latimer suffers some technical difficulties when her system crashes, but keeps a cool head and the crowd busy while her band try to solve the problem.

Having a large technical problem like tonights during a debut show could shatter an artist’s confidence, but as soon as the system is fixed Latimer resumes with the same confident attitude she has shown all night to perform the final two songs, ‘Feel’ and next single ‘Hearts on Fire.’

It cannot be argued that Latimer certainly knows how to hold a note and entertain a crowded room; her great stage presence is what makes tonight special.
