The opening track, ‘When It’s Over’, from Fife based Sorry Hollywood new EP pulls us in several directions throughout it’s rocky and dramatic journey; it throws us into a spiral of guitar solos and space rock sounds.
“When it’s over, I’ll be a tear in your eye” sings Ricky Cocozza throughout the chorus over high, repeating riffs and overpowering drumming, which enhances the heavy metal feel of the track.
‘Nobody To You’ has a much more early 90s American pop punk sound, before closing track ‘Left For Dead’ brings us back round again.
The music matches the sinister title and the vocals are much grittier and raw, providing an overall darker and heavier feel.
The musical ability of the band is showcased, as each member is given moments to demonstrate their impressive ability to play a notoriously difficult genre.
However, the lyrics do not match up to this throughout the three tracks and are fairly underwhelming; that said, with more hard-hitting and punchier lyrics, Sorry Hollywood will not be accused of lacking energy and skill.
