Slowlight – Slowlight [Struggletown]

There is a blizzard of genres and sounds present on the new Slowlight EP; the band firmly claiming their musical direction through the four, combining their punk and heavy rock influences with a modern, indie/post-hardcore sound.

Opener, ‘Crossfire’ is extremely raw and fresh, sounding like a recording straight from a live gig; there’s a very prominent early 90s grunge feel alongside distorted vocals, which merge together to create a memorable and unique track.

‘13 Snakes’ increases the energy and is much faster, making a loud and heavy impression from the start, while ‘Repeat The Pattern’ steers the EP in a slightly different direction, mixing a slower and more controlled sound with a chorus that spirals back into the chaotic sounds seen on the previous tracks.

Closer, ‘Empty Handed’ features a darker and more heavy metal influence throughout; the vocals are clearer, however the band still maintain their sound.
