‘Partners In Crime’ is a song that barks at days passed of raw and primal indie rock from the likes of The Libertines or early Arctic Monkeys.
However, at this stage (and with this single), energy is the only thing on offer to cover for lack of originality.
The song is very upbeat with a charming simplicity, and laddish vocals that create a confident air, making you believe Barstow Bats are writing exactly the kind of music they want to write.
At three-and-a-half-minutes, it remains punchy throughout and if the aim was to create a fun and solid indie rock and roll song, then mission accomplished.
Overall, it’s not in any way groundbreaking, but then again, most things aren’t, and in a live setting this song could stir a lot of crowds.
