There has been a sense of hyped anticipation for Jurassic 5‘s comeback show with full original line-up since they departed ways in 2007, and this anticipation turns to joy as ‘one-by-one’ the four MC’s are introduced to a ubiquitous and beckoning applause with signature blasting beats sentimentally bursting through the PA, supplied by original DJ’s Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark.

Jurassic 5 put on a show for their fans that is well worthy of the price of admission; moreover, what is on offer is nostalgically wallowed up by the energetic Glasgow crowd.

They perform with conviction and look as though they are enjoying being back together on stage, which rubs off, onto the crowd.

From ‘In the Flesh’ to ‘Quality Control’ there are no signs of antiquity with a collage of big funky beats, perfect combo MC’ing and compelling and larger than life lyrics; it is a spectacle to behold.

Things are just getting started when Akil demonstrates he still has the energy for a bit of breakdancing, testament to the fact that they are giving it their all.

The interaction with the crowd between songs, and their desire to get the fans involved is admirable and there is no half-heartedness about it; they remember Glasgow.

‘Concrete Schoolyard’ takes it up a gear with the crowd playing their part in the chorus’s much to J5’s delight; it is all ‘hands-up-in-the-air’ and a rejoice fullness for want of a better word.

Performing hit after hit an hour had passes in no time, only to be treated by an encore – which is the icing on the cake.

It’s a fantastic performance with passion, energy and an appreciation towards their fans to have them back on stage.
