Rio Callahan is now well established on the Glasgow scene having now released their third EP.
Full of the energetic pop melodies that the band does so well Glamorous is a sound step forward from last year’s record.
‘Glamorous’ is a definite highlight and is one you will find difficult to get out of your head.
‘Joanna Dee’s’ takes its name from a Glasgow nightclub that, judging by the song, it would seem the band has had their fair share of fun in over the years.
The second half of the EP takes a slightly different tone with a couple of love songs ‘The Bloom’ and ‘In The Right Place’, however they don’t lack Rio Callahan’s usual energy and poppy melodies.
Glamorous is a strong EP with Ross’ vocals suiting the songs perfectly and Audrey keeping the groove going throughout on the drums.
The songs have the kind of energy that will go down particularly well at live gigs that is where Rio Callahan undoubtedly excels.
This EP is poppy without being cheesy and has more than a hint of rock, definitely worth a listen.
