‘Liar Liar’ starts with an intricate driving drum beat that sets the pace nicely and before long it’s joined by a guitar riff that has you expecting something big.

Without wasting time Farewell Singapore throws us into a pop punk ride as catchy sing-along hooks flows superbly into beautifully intertwining sections.

If there’s one thing the Elgin quartet knows how to do it’s create a hook; and here the chorus demonstrates this perfectly.

The track finishes on an eight bar breakdown that’s a perfect end to what is an unrelenting assault of hooks and nuances.

The co A-side ‘Celebrate Your Mother’ has a slower pace and darker atmosphere, where the band prove themselves as talented songwriters as each section flows into each other delightfully with enough contrast to keep things fresh and exciting.

If there is criticism to be made it’s with the production techniques used on the vocals, you can see what they are looking to do, the automated phone call style vocals similar to Hell Is For Heroes frontman Justin Schlosberg, however in this case they don’t quite sit right in the mix resulting in a difficulty to make out the pronunciation.

This is a small imperfection to what is a fantastic release by the boys (and girl) who are proving themselves to be a force to be reckoned with in Glasgow.
