During the summer Father Sculptor were releasing a single a fortnight, this is one of those – and it’s not down to the accelerating online interest in the band that has prompted this review – it’s been on my list for a long time I swear.
Although I fear I might be repeating other reviews ‘Aristide’ starts on a slow building intro giving way to angular guitars, before wonderfully annunciated lyrics from vocalist Thomas David Hall bring things into full flow.
Slightly dark and sultry atmospheric synths combine with licks surely as Smiths inspired as the first Pains of Being Pure at Heart record, the vocal delivery owes something to the 80s indie legends too – these are more complementary comments than it might let on.
In ‘Aristide’ Father Sculptor have produced a single that could potentially have people romanticising over for years to come.
