Record review: Lizzie Nightingale – Tiny Teardrops

Debut EP, Tiny Teardrops, from London based, Glaswegian singer/songwriter Lizzie Nightingale is a touching, beautiful listen showcasing a girl with talents in abundance.

‘Alone’ has an extravagantly lush sound as Nightingale’s flawless, soothing vocals shine out above comfortingly beautiful production from Matty ‘Parka’ Thomson (Wayne Hector, Lady Leshurr, Monica).

‘Footsteps’ sees a more soulful vocal delivery from Nightingale, as a twinkling keys and heavy dubstep inspired production create a wonderfully settling effect.

The title track is a soft ditty that eventually soars as Nightingale’s perfect vocals reach for the skies between intricate Regina Spektor inspired verses.

‘Lights’ sees a prominent bass drum and shimmering, atmospheric keys build a backdrop as Nightingale delivers a fitting tribute for anyone aiming for their dreams.

Nightingale may be a multi-instrumentalist, song writer and have her hand in production but what really shines through on this record is her smooth and soulful vocal talents which leave a tear in your eye with their touching splendor.

This is a girl who could actually encapsulate her track ‘Lights’ and be the big star she’s seems to be aiming to be.
