Single review: How To Swim – ‘Corpsing’/’She Gets Around’

How To Swim has been kicking about for a while, impressing with a all out expansive pop sound which has always impressed live. Earlier this year they released a double-A side, which has taken me too long to review, showcasing two different sides of their sound.

‘Corpsing’ appears a ramshackle high paced indie affair before a touch of brass and a “woo woo, woo woo” backing vocal drag the track in full flow. The frantic beats only seen to get more urgent and as the vocalist spits “I keep on dancing” it’s no doubt everyone else is as this evolves into an indie disco powerhouse.

‘She Gets Around’ hits more poppy tone as those Glasgow indie pop roots shine through. Softer vocals start with a charming strummed background that builds beautifully into a catchy repetitive chorus, as the band seemingly tell the tale of a cutsy groupie who “thinks she’s cute” and “she knows you know she knows”. It’s a touch twee, which is just lovely.
