Today’s news featuring Electric Frog, Music is the Music Language and more


So, I’ve been a bit slow on the uptake recently my apologies to you all, here’s a round up of the news I missed, a bit thrown together and some of it a touch late but there’s a few gems.

Electric Frog is back again and that day that was called off not so long ago is back as a full weekender with most of the original acts plus more. Notable big local acts involved include Mogwai, Errors, Optimo and Slam, while there are also big acts from further afield like The Fall and Mount Kimbie for the little extra. The event is on the weekend of September 10-11, with tickets going on sale tomorrow.

New announcements and a David Shirigley designed posted for Music is the Music Language, the announcements include Moon Unit, Helhesten, Falconry, Sad City, Richard Youngs.

The Hei Ensemble gig will take place at Sleazy’s on August 26, this event is Hey Enemy performing with members of a good wack of the best Glasgow bands about.

Bronto Skylift have been added to the list to support Jello Biafra at the ABC2 tomorrow, should be an absolute belter.

On September 30 Vukovi are going to launch their debut EP at Sleazy’s, tickets £3, more details to come.

New Town Triptych and Verse Metrics are doing a free acoustic show at The Liquid Ship on September 9.

Second Hand Marching Band play Sleazy’s on August 19.

United Fruit are supported by Lady North at The Captain’s on September 23. Tickets £4.

Blank Canvas are releasing their debut double single ‘By The Fire’ and ‘Golden’ at the end of September, the launch is through in Edinburgh but you can catch these guys in Glasgow in just a weeks time.

Golden Grrrls, Palms and Tangles at the Note. Yes! August 18, sounds a delight.

Amber Wilson at The Captain’s on September 2, enjoy.

The Moth & The Mirror have been signed to Olive Grove Records and are set to release a new record in October.
