Today’s news featuring Record Store Day 2011, Three Blind Wolves and more

So, last nights entertainment was excellent all three acts were great, that’s Graeme Ronald (Remember Remember), OV (The Unwinding Hours, DeSalvo) and Take A Worm For A Walk Week, I won’t say too much now as we have a review and some nice pictures coming shortly. Some slightly poor news on the front of the websites up keep, firstly I am snowed under with uni work so for a week or so the site will have to take a back seat and secondly I am told my laptop has to be taken in for some repairs at some point, so posts will be a touch more difficult. When all this is done though I’m sure we’ll all be running smoothly, so please bear with me. Anyway, here’s what been going over the last day and a bit…

I mentioned Record Store Day 2011 the other day, well Monorail has listing for their events now. Here’s a run down of the acts playing: Iain Shaw (2pm), Frightened Rabbit (5pm), Palms (7pm), The Membranes (9pm), the show has special opening times of 9am-7pm and there promises to be a whole range of fun going down including exclusive releases for sale and DJ sets from Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub), Paul Thomson (Franz Ferdinand) and Russell Elder (monorail music). Also, you can pop up to Love Music for 4pm you can catch a free Admiral Fallow set, sounds a lovely wee day.

Three Blind Wolves are looking for choir members to help out on their upcoming album, they hit the studio this weekend. The album is set to be called ‘Sing Hallelujah For The Old Machine’. Interested? Just post ‘THREE BLIND WOLVES I AM INTAE IT’ onto their Facebook page, this is it it HERE.

In terms of festival news, The Twilight Sad has been added to the Rockness line up joining the likes of Frightened Rabbit, Sons and Daughters, Broken Records and Optimo. Hang on a second, this is the same weekend as Doune the Rabbit Hole? Oh, make your own decisions but I’ll be at DTRH, but yeah this looks good too. Also, Edwyn Collins and Withered Hand are set to play Indietracks at the end of July, I’ve never been, can we all go, please, please, please there’s stream trains. Oh and check your mail if you’re going to Homegame there may be a surprise, that’s you email not you post.

You can buy Conquering Animal Sound‘s limited edition tour shirts online for £8, they look pretty. LOOK, mine’s a small, please!

In the world of gigs, Tango In The Attic have prepared a new set and they will air it to you all at The Rest on April 29th and Kid Canaveral is playing at The Rest on its third birthday party on April 24th, more details to follow on both. Haight Ashbury, Frances McKee (The Vaselines), Mandrake Shepherd support Nan Turner at Sleazy’s on April 29th, this one’s £4.

Oh yeah, and soon (probably) we’ll have a few features running documenting North American War (I’m all too aware of how big their name seems to be at the bottom of the page) and Fur Hood‘s west coast American tour or more likely the beer they drank while on it. I’m promised loads of pictures, a bunch of videos (of what I’m not sure) and a “lot of shite”.
