Glasgow-based two-piece Louise McVey & Cracks in the Concrete, Louise McVey (vocals) and Graeme Miller (sound), met in a basement in 2009. McVey‘s sonorous vocals and Miller’s off kilter musical arrangements create darkly atmospheric, and at times unsettling songs , highlighting their shared passion for dark unexplored musical territory.
The duo’s first release was on the eclectic and prestigious Optimo Music label. Live, they have shared a stage with the likes of Lydia Lunch’s Big Sexy Noise and Pete Molinari and have performed a live soundtrack for aerial dance company Spinal Cord‘s Masked extravaganza. Miller has also provided the soundtracks for Sven Werner‘s Tales of Magical Realism trilogy of immersive installations as well as the score for his latest film, he was also part of the mysterious Orkestra Obsolete who earlier this year found Youtube notoriety by recreating the New Order classic ‘Blue Monday’ using unusual and outdated instruments.
They are set to release their long-awaited follow up to 2011’s Love Lust Tales, Under the Heart on December 5th with a launch date at Glasgow’s Hug and Pint with a band made up of McVey, Miller, with Jimmy O’Donnell on keys and synth and Russell Mackinnon on drums.
