Premiere: Wojtek The Bear – ‘Trivial Pursuit’

Ahead of the release of their upcoming Second Nature EP Glasgow four-piece Wojtek The Bear hits us with the video for ‘Trivial Pursuit’, which we have the pleasure of bringing to you first.

The video, which was shot on VHS by Catholic Action’s Chris McCrory, features the band playing in the cluttered room of Voltaire & Rousseau bookshop, overlaid with images of their (and our) hometown (Cathkin Park and the necropolis), creating a real feel of reminiscence as vocalist Tam Killean laments us with as lyrics that about coming to term with being in you 30s and looking back on silly teenage antics.

The track itself is typical of what we’ve come to expect from the band in a short space of time, heftily atmospheric, yet melodic guitar pop, that is strikingly well put together and enhanced by Killean’s Scottish twang.

As the opening track from Second Nature, Wojtek have set the bar of what to expect, and with the EP in the more than capable hands of Chris McCrory ay Shady Lane Studio is something that we eagerly anticipate.

Second Nature is release on March 31, with an official launch the following night at Broadcast, with Book Group and Lional, followed by dates in Dundee, Edinburgh and Inverness the following week.
