Record review: Gummy Stumps – New White Houses

Noisy, confrontational ‘music’ – that about sums up Gummy Stumps, and while I appreciate that a live performance by them could prove to be one of the most barbaric mosh pits I’ve ever seen, it’s not something that translates over to the studio or your CD player at home.

It’s a shame because if Gummy Stumps took some of the brief moments of brilliance that they have (and they regularly do) and expanded them outwards, we’d have a set of songs that we could listen to and that would have recreational value.

Instead, they cover that shit in tritones and chromatics and shout at the crowd.

This is somewhat unique it the way it is being released though.
